Korean Cultural Heritage Society Overview
The Korean Cultural Heritage Society is a non-profit organization based in Vancouver, committed to preserving and promoting the richness of Korean culture within Canada’s diverse, multicultural community. Through cultural events, educational programs, and community initiatives, the Society aims to deepen the understanding and appreciation of Korea’s traditional and contemporary arts, language, history, and values.
Since its establishment in 2002, the Society has proudly hosted the Korean Heritage Day Festival, which has become the most anticipated Korean cultural event in Vancouver's Lower Mainland. In recognition of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Canada, the Province of British Columbia declared the festival as Korea Day, marking a significant milestone for the Korean-Canadian community.

Dongwhee(David) Shin
As I left my homeland and began living as an immigrant in Vancouver, Canada, I have continued to try to cherish and preserve Korean culture. With a desire to share our unique heritage with the Canadian mainstream society, I am currently serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the Korean Cultural Heritage Society. Over the years, our BC Korean Cultural Heritage Society has supported and participated in various cultural events held in Vancouver, including exhibitions, performances, and concerts. In particular, since 2002, we have been hosting the annual "Korean Cultural Heritage Festival" every summer. This event has become a festival that shares traditional Korean culture, cuisine, and contemporary Korean trends not only with fellow Koreans in the community but also with the local Canadian public. It is one of our key initiatives. We are especially excited about this year's 23rd Annual Korean Cultural Heritage Festival, where the Gyeonggi Provincial Dance Company—sponsored by Gyeonggi Province in Korea—will be visiting to present high-quality traditional Korean dance. We are also greatly looking forward to their stand-alone performance, which will be held at Michael J Fox Theatre. Moving forward, our Korean Cultural Heritage Society will continue to strive to preserve and promote Korean culture in Vancouver. We hope to contribute, even in a small way, to fostering stronger connections and networks between the Korean community and the broader Canadian society through cultural exchange. Thank you!
